ABC Tops 2007 Alma Awards Nominations

The Alma awards were announced at the Beverly Hilton
Hotel in Beverly Hills. On hand for the announcement were NCLR President Janet Murgia, Eva Longoria, executive producer and host for the show and Mario Lopez (Dancing With the Stars).

"It is an honor to return as host of the Alma Awards," said Longoria. "This year we are going to have a telecast filled with surprises, as we celebrate the achievements of the Latino community."

Oudry's Painted Menagerie

Jean-Baptiste Oudry, the principal animal painter in the first half of Louis XV's reign, did a portrait series of the animals in the king's royal menagerie at Versailles, Oudry's prodigious talent produced life-size paintings of these animals, including a lion, an antelope, a male and a female leopard, and several other exotic fauna.

The exhibit features twelve paintings, including a life-size portrait of a famous rhinoceros named Clara (the subject of a multiyear project of the Getty Museum's Paintings Conservation Department), and a group of Oudry's drawings. Organized by the J. Paul Getty Museum in association with the Staatliches Museum Schwerin and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Manu Chao Radio Bemba Sound System
