Destacan tres latinos en los premios Oscar: ¨Avatar¨ y ¨The Hurt Locker¨ obtienen 9 nominaciones seguidas por ¨Inglourious Basterds¨ con 8

En la nueva época que este martes 3 de febrero comenzaron a vivir los premios Oscar, y como un hecho que debe ser considerado histórico e inusitado, dos realizadores de origen latino, el argentino Juan José Campanella y la peruana Claudia Llosa estarán compitiendo dentro de la categoría Mejor Película Extranjera con las cintas ¨El secreto de tus ojos¨ y ¨The Milk of Sorrow¨, respectivamente.

Por su parte la actriz española Penélope Cruz confirmo el destacado sitio que ocupa entre la comunidad artística de Hollywood al ser seleccionada dentro de la categoría Mejor Actriz de Reparto por su actuación en la cinta musical ¨Nine¨, en la que fue dirigida por Rob Marshall.

Como era de esperarse la competencia entre la mega producción futurista ¨Avatar¨, dirigida por James Cameron y el drama ¨The Hurt Locker¨, dirigido por Katryn Bigelow, llegaran a la entrega de las estatuillas doradas con iguales posibilidades de llevarse el mayor numero de premios ya que ambos filmes obtuvieron 9 nominaciones.

Muy cerca de estas dos cintas se encuentran el controversial cineasta Quentin Tarantino, con su película ¨Inglourious Basterds¨, elegida en 8 categorías, incluidas la de Mejor Director, Mejor Guión Original y Mejor Director.

Desde antes que fuera anunciada la lista de aspirantes al premio Oscar, y por los resultados que las películas de Cameron, Bigelow y Tarantino habían venido obteniendo en otras competencias, se tenia previsto que las tres ocuparan un destacado lugar entre los finalistas seleccionadas por los miembros de la Academia de Ciencias y Artes Cinematográficas de Hollywood. Tal y como termino ocurriendo.

Un poco rezagadas quedaron ¨Up in the Air¨, dirigida por Jason Reitman, y ¨Precious¨, dirigida por Lee Daniels, al quedar seleccionadas en 6 diferentes apartados cada una.

Queda pendiente una interesante pregunta por resolver, que es la de saber si a final de cuentas los premio mas importante que hay en la industria fílmica de Hollywood (Mejor Pelicula del Año y Mejor Director) terminaran en manos de una cinta como ¨The Hurt Locker¨, de grandes meritos artísticos y un escaso desempeño en las taquillas de los teatros o si triunfara ¨Avatar¨, el filme que ha obtenido las mayores recaudaciones económicas en la toda la historia del cine.
