Hace diez años, en la frontera entre Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila y Del Río, Texas, dos jóvenes cineastas de origen mexicano produjeron “El Mariachi”, una película de bajísimo presupuesto que se convirtió inmediatamente en un clásico del cine contemporáneo. Realizada con tan solo 7,000 dólares “El Mariachi” marco para Robert Rodríguez, director y guionista, y Carlos Gallardo, productor y actor, el principio de una trayectoria que gracias a “Desperado” no ha dejado de alcanzar nuevos y mejores niveles de éxito. Esto se ha podido comprobar con el rodaje de “Once Upon A Time In Mexico”, filme donde alcanza su punto culminante la primera trilogía cinematográfica interpretada, en éste Hollywood del siglo 21, por un héroe totalmente mexicano.

Decidido a encontrar un camino propio, lejos de la poderosa influencia de su amigo de toda la vida, Carlos Gallardo aceptó colaborar en la producción de “Once Upon A Time In Mexico” porque le tocó jugar un papel fundamental dentro de la creación del magnífico personaje de “El Mariachi”.

Gracias a la feliz reunión que tuvo con Robert Rodríguez, en la ciudad de San Miguel Allende, Guanajuato, Gallardo comprendió que su vida personal y la de “El Mariachi” estarían ligadas para siempre. Fue por tal motivo que, en una reveladora charla que tuvo con Latino Weekly Review, hizo una larga reflexión acerca de todo lo que ha hecho durante la ultima década, no únicamente en términos artísticos sino también humanos. Gracias a este balance individual, Carlos Gallardo se nos va revelando, en las múltiples inquietudes que lleva pegadas al corazón, como un cineasta que tiene el propósito y la intención de superar los obstáculos que hay entre su carrera actual y los niveles a los que quisiera llevarla con las películas que tiene filmadas y las que piensa producir y estelarizar en un futuro no lejano.

Thanks to this individual balance, Carlos Gallardo has revealed himself to be, in the multiple purposes that are close to his heart, as a film director who has the will and the desire to surpass any and all obstacles that are presently between his accomplishments so far and the levels he wants to take his career, with the movies that he has filmed in the last few years and those that he is thinking of star and produce in a not too distant future.
